Stitches used-
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Double Crochet Together (DCT) – Yarn over, insert hook into first stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops. Two loops remain on hook. Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining 3 loops.
DCTwS (Double crochet together with skip)- when working the DCT, the first part of the stitch will be worked into the stitch closest to the hook, then a stitch will be skipped, and the rest of the DCT will be worked into the stitch after the skipped stitch.
Hook- 7mm crochet hook
Yarn- (4) skeins of Queensland Collection Leche 50 g/109 yards. This yarn is a blend of merino wool, microfiber, milk protein, and silk. To get a similar effect in a readily available yarn, I think Caron Simply Soft would be a good substitute.
Finished scarf measurement- 8 inches x 72 inches
Ch 27R1) In fourth ch from hook, work 1 dc. *Ch 1, then work 1 DCTwS, starting in same stitch as where previous dc was worked.* Repeat between *’s 10 more times. Ch 1, then work DCT in same stitch and last stitch. Ch 2, turn.
R2) Work 1 dc in ch 1 space. *Ch 1, then work DCT in same chain space and next chain space.* Repeat between *’s 10 more times. Ch 1, then work DCT in same ch 1 space and top of turning chain. Ch 1, turn.
R3) Sc in top of each DCT and each ch 1 space across. (25 stitches) Ch 2 turn.
R4) Dc in second sc from hook. *Ch 1, then work 1 DCTwS, starting in same stitch as where previous dc was worked.* Repeat between *’s 10 more times. Ch 1, then work DCT in same stitch and last stitch. Ch 2, turn.
Repeat rows 2 – 4 until scarf reaches desired length, ending with row 2.
For a little more structure at the ends of your scarf, you could begin with a row of sc, then work rows 4, 2, and 3 in that order, ending with row 3. If you start that way, adjust your starting chain to 26, work sc in second chain from hook and each ch across for a total of 25 sc. Ch 2, turn.
