Black Cat Pillow

Available here is a pattern for a crocheted cat pillow.  This pillow paired with my boo pillow is a cute little set for fall. I'm including instructions for both right and left handed crocheters.  If you would like to have a matching pair of pillows with mirrored images, work one in your normal hand and one in the opposite hand.

Stitches used
Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
Double Crochet (DC)
Chain (Ch)
Single Crochet (SC)
Slip Stitch (Sl St)

Supplies
Cream worsted weight yarn 5 oz. (C in pattern)
Rust worsted weight yarn 1 oz. (R in pattern)
Black worsted weight yarn 1 oz. (B in pattern)
H/8 5mm hook
16" pillow form

Row 1 is worked in FDC, all following rows are worked in DC. All rows begin with a Ch 3 as the first stitch.  Instructions row by row will only show the count for each color worked.  This pattern requires you to know how to crochet graphed patterns and switch colors.

Hearts and Darts Hat

It’s getting to be that time of year again when all things heart and pink and chocolate are plentiful. In the spirit of the season, I bring you the Hearts and Darts Hat. Although I had Valentine’s Day on the brain when I created it, I think it is cute enough to wear any time.

The yarns that I used for this hat are discontinued but do seem to still be available at a number of online stores. Of course you can always substitute something else if you so desire, I just like to let you know when I use a specific brand.

This hat is sized for an adult woman.  If you need to adjust the size of the hat a bit, changing the stitch count will not work with this hat as the pattern is a repeat of 16 stitches.  You will need to change your hook size.

Supplies
(1) Queensland Leche’ in White (50g/109 yds) or 1.5 oz of a similar worsted weight yarn
(1) Plymouth Yarn Suri Merino in Pink (50g/110 yds) or 1.5 oz of a similar worsted weight yarn
H/8 5mm hook
Optional pom pom
Large Needle

Stitches used
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Back Loop Single Crochet (blsc)

Hat Brim
With white yarn, ch 6.
R1) Sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)
R2) Blsc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.
R3-80) Repeat row 2.
Bring the two short ends together, making sure to not twist, and join with a sl st.

Hat Body
Join pink yarn and ch 1, but do not cut white yarn.
R1. Sc in the end of each row evenly around, carrying the white yarn and working over it, for a total of 80 sc. Join with sl st to beginning sc. Ch 1.

All remaining stitches will be sc worked in the back loop only. Only the color count and changes will be given from this point on. All rounds end with a sl st to join and ch 1.

You may have enough remaining white yarn to make a pom pom, or you can use a purchased one, or leave it without.

Sweatheart Plaid Sweater for Barbie

Here is another pattern to get your Barbie ready for Valentines Day.  Today’s offering is a cute little plaid sweater with a v neck and short, scalloped edge sleeves.

This pattern came about when I was messing around with the plaid technique one evening and it somehow turned into a doll sweater.  I will warn you though, all those color changes in such a small space can be a bit fiddly!

One note about finishing off the ends.  Because there are about a million of them, I tied them together in pairs inside the sweater and then gave some of them a quick tuck.  It was so much easier than trying to weave in every single end!  Also, all those ends getting woven in would have lead to a lot of extra bulk in the sweater.

Stitches used
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)

Double Crochet (dc)

Heart Table Runner

(Originally published Feb 8, 2018) Valentines Day is just around the corner and, while most of us don’t decorate all that much, why not whip up a pretty table runner for the occasion?  I found this graph the other day while I was wandering around on pinterest.  It’s designed to be a bookmark, but I thought with a few adjustments it would be a nice table runner.  There aren’t many written directions with the graph, and I made a few changes to make it a table runner, so I am posting it here as a written pattern.

My runner measures 30″ long and 8″ wide.
